Karim Benzema, who is the striker of the club of Real Madrid, has finally spoken of his ‘very strong’ bond with Zinedine Zidane, who is the coach of his club. Referring to Zidane, Karim said, “He is like a family member of mine.”
The striker of France has been one of the outstanding players in a campaign which was disastrous for Los Blancos – counting 30 goals which also included shattering a club record of 8 in a succession by the very same player.
When Karim was asked about his personal relations with Zinedine, he told the Le Quotidien that “It is very much strong”, as was cited by Diario AS.
“It is a very healthy relationship that began a very long time ago, I came across him before he became a Coach of the club and he gave me a lot of tips which proved to be fruitful. We not only talk about football but also about our life. He is like my elder brother and suffices it to say that he has played a big part in making me what I am today.
“It is a lot more than just friendship, it is like he is a part & parcel of my own family, but that does not become an obstacle in the way of him reproaching me or the even the other way round.
“My career at Real Madrid till now since 2009 has been exceptional, over the course of time, it seems very much strange to me. I am very proud of the manner my career here has progressed. Actually, it is not at all bad for a career of footballer, especially when you are part of one of the best football clubs in the world. I feel really happy in this club.”
